Sprint All Star Race, how it will works.

Sprit All-Star Race, a non-points race, where the Nascar Sprint Cup drivers race hard for the 1 million dollars prize. As usual, the rule is changed every year, so let´s see how it will works this year.

Drivers who are guaranteed in the All-Star race:

Drivers who have won a race in 2012 or 2013: Marcos Ambrose, Greg Biffle, Clint Bowyer, Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon, Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne, Matt Kenseth, Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano, Ryan Newman, David Ragan and Tony Stewart.

All-star winners since 2003: Kurt Busch (2010), Mark Martin (2005).

Cup champions since 2003: All already in.

The top driver in online/mobile app fan voting.

The Sprint All-Star Race qualifying will be in May 17th. The drivers who are already guaranteed in the All-Star race will make a three laps run, with a mandatory four-tire pit stop. But the cat jump is that there is no speed limit on pit road.

The other drivers will need to participate of the Sprint Showdown in May 18th, a few hours before the main show. They will make a normal qualifying, traditional best of two laps, and a 40 laps race, with two 20-lap segments and an optional pit stop between them. The top 2 will be qualified for the Sprint All-Star race, and will start in the last two spots.

The teams who failed to qualifyqued will come back home, the others stay for the show, that will be in May 18th at 8:30 pm.

The race will work this way, there will be 90 laps, splited in 5 segments. The first four segments will have 20 laps each one, with an opitional pit-stop between than. At the end of a segment, the yellow flag will be called, and the cars will line up for the next one.

At the end of the segment 4, in the lap 80, they will need to enter in the pits, for a mandatory 4 tires change, and the cars will line up based in the avarage finish of the others 4 segments, ties will be broken with the result of the first segment.

After this, the green flag will drop, the will be 10 laps to go, and the drivers will race hard for the 1 million dollars price. But there is detail, in the last segment laps under yellow flag doesn´t count.
